Stationary

I went to staples in order to find some colourful bits and bats to make chairs from and this is what I've got so far:

Paper clip chair

Bull dog clip chair

Fag Tips

I also enjoyed using fag tips.

This is a combination of the tips box fluff and canvas Tighteners. I quite like it.

Straws

I started playing about with straws which has turned out to be one of my favourite materials.

Made out of subways staws and leaflet.

I love this chair I would have this in my bedroom if it was life size. It's just bendy straws from the pound shop with the glue gun.

Cocktail Sticks

Dont think I had a great deal of success with cocktail sticks.

The first one is just cocktail sticks with glue gun glue and the second is cocktail sticks with a piece of card as the seat.

Match Sticks

I didn't know where to start with this project, so I figured I would make lots of mini models and the first material that poped into my head was matches. I also bought some super glue, which didn't work well at all. I then try wood adhesive, still no better. So in the end I bought a glue gun. Which works very well, but its quite messy and visible. But I suppose these imperfections won't be as obvious on a life size chair.

I decided to incorporate the boxes with the match chairs as matches alone were too fiddly.

This one is fairly straightforward. I took the box apart, stuck it together and stuck the matches on the back. Its not particularly impressive.

This one is even more simple. Its just matches used as legs stuck to the bottom of a match box.

I think this is the most impressive match stick chair I created. Its similar to the first. In the sense I took the box apart and glued it together, but this time I covered it in black tape and added match stick legs.

CHAIRS

After speaking to David about my ideas, we came up with doing a project based on the making of a chair and as part of the final piece include and instruction booklet. So for more research I went to IKEA.

Its given me some really good design ideas, but made me panic about material. I am really not skilled at wood work, and I don't want to spend too much money. So I'm going to talk to David and see if I can either see what materials I can get my hands on for next to nothing, or see if I can use a cheap chair as a base and then add to it.

Warrington

At the beginning of this project I went to the Warrington Arts Festival. I only saw 2 things that directly linked to the theme of this project. But some of the things I saw I can use as inspiration for future projects.
